Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce is encouraging traders across Milton Keynes to get involved in the UK’s first Small Business Saturday campaign.
The move is aimed at promoting and celebrating small businesses in the UK on Saturday 7 December, one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
Organisers want all kinds of small businesses to get involved from family-run establishments to local shops and online traders as well as small wholesalers and manufacturers. A twitter account @SmallBizSatUK has also been set up to help promote the event nationally.
It is hoped that these businesses will use this opportunity to show special deals for customers, showcase events, and much more on the day which is being endorsed by all the major political parties.
In America, Small Business Saturday has become an established commercial holiday.
Milton Keynes Chamber’s Chief Executive Paul Griffiths said: “Small Business Saturday is a great chance for small businesses and traders to promote themselves and generate trade and we are delighted to be backing this national campaign.
“Small businesses matter and are just as important as the larger firms as they make an important contribution to the local economy. We would encourage our members to jump on board and make the most of this positive event.”
