Christmas cheer at MK Gallery

Posted: 23/11/21 by MK Gallery

There’s always a good sprinkling of events and activities going on in the run up to Christmas, so much so by the time Christmas Day arrives many of us can feel a little worn out.

With that in mind, the elves at MK Gallery have made plans for visitors so they can relax and enjoy that special time before the 25th of December.

Christmas cheer will be available on Museum Shop Sunday, when MK Gallery will play its part on 28 November in the national initiative which aims to show the important role that gallery and museum shops play in helping arts, cultural and heritage attractions to survive and thrive.

Christmas shoppers visiting the Gallery’s shop will be invited to try out potential gifts such sample board games, a giant jigsaw puzzle or design their own placemats kits. Children will be able to show off their artistic flair by putting pen to paper in sample colouring books.

The shop will be fully stocked with clever, creative items, gift vouchers for the Gallery and even Life Drawing Class experiences to buy. So, ticking of the gift list should be a piece of cake.

Seasonal goodwill extends to those making purchases worth over £25, either online or in person, with a free gift from the Gallery as every purchase helps to support the continued delivery of its arts programming.

For movie goers who like to snuggle into Christmas with a good film, a hot drink, candy cane or a glass of fizz, the Gallery’s Sky Room Christmas cinema programme is packed with festive films for all ages including Elf, A Boy Called Christmas, It’s a Wonderful Life and The CBeebies Christmas Show: The Night Before Christmas. There are even two versions of the family favourite Christmas classic, The Nutcracker – one live from the Royal Opera House, and the other a film by the Bolshoi Ballet. The magic of Christmas will be certainly celebrated on celluloid.

Those wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping and preparations, can enjoy peace and calm in the Gallery’s latest exhibition Laura Knight: A Panoramic View. Contemplating her Cornish scenes is a great tonic for pre-yuletide stress!

With eat, drink and be merry very much on the menu in the Café Bar and the aroma of warm mince pies and mulled wine wafting through the building, who couldn’t feel that Christmas is coming?
