The Motor Insurance Bureau (MIB) has taken the decision to move their industry services from the current provider to a new, cloud-based platform called Navigate.

The first of these services to move to Navigate will be the Motor Insurance Database (MID), and MIB will be migrating all customer data to the new platform, effective Monday 29 April 2024.

What you need to know

From Monday 22 April 2024, MIB will be contacting all policyholders who access the MID with a link to set up their account on Navigate. This registration email will be sent from noreply@identity.mib.org.uk to registered MID contacts only. This initial link can only be used once and it will expire after 90 days, at which point a new link will need to be requested (the email from MIB may go into Junk – so please keep an eye on this folder).

Once the policyholder has followed the link, they will then need to set up two-factor authentication with the use of a mobile phone to gain access to Navigate for the first time, with the nominated mobile number being sent a verification code by text.

Policyholders should check their MID contact information and access the database as soon as possible to ensure their registered user access remains active and is up to date ahead of the move – any registered MID user accounts that are inactive or locked will not receive this communication from the MIB.

As the migration will be taking place between Friday 26 and Sunday 28 April 2024, policyholders won’t be able to update records until Monday 29 April 2024, when they log onto Navigate. It may be helpful for policyholders to have easy access to their motor insurance documentation, if they need to evidence cover is in force. As part of the migration, only one user ID per email address will be migrated. This will be whichever is at the top of the list alphabetically.

So, for any single users with multiple IDs, a new user will need to be set up for each other ID, each with their own email ID.
