Wisetek UK, a leader in advanced IT asset disposition (ITAD), data destruction, and technology reuse, is proud to announce that it has partnered with the University of Bedfordshire to facilitate a Digital Marketing Competition among the University’s Marketing Students. The University students presented their ideas for a digital marketing strategy, aimed at engaging with and attracting UK businesses to Wisetek’s offering, to members of the Wisetek UK team on 7th
November.
The overall winner of the competition was Oxana Luchian, a 1st-year student in Advertising and Marketing Communications at the University of Bedfordshire.
As part of the competition, the students and members of the University staff visited Wisetek UK’s headquarters in Milton Keynes and received a detailed briefing about the business, its services, and its target market from senior members of the Wisetek UK team.
This competition enabled the students to gain practical experience by contributing to the digital marketing plan for an established brand operating in the IT asset disposition sector. Their proposed strategies took into account Wisetek UK’s website and existing digital channels, competitor research, brand awareness, and digital advertising opportunities in the market.
The participating students received prizes from Wisetek in the form of iPads, which were originally refurbished by the company for the purposes of being sold on its consumer e-commerce platform, Wisetek Store UK. Additionally, students were also given Amazon vouchers by the University of Bedfordshire Business School.
Matt Summers, Wisetek UK Business Operations Manager,
said: “We were delighted to work with the University of Bedfordshire on this project and have been extremely impressed by the calibre of the students and their lecturers from the University. This exercise was of mutual benefit for both the students and Wisetek, as it enabled the participants to put their learnings to practical use for a real business, and enabled Wisetek to benefit from hearing fresh ideas and outside the box thinking when it comes to our digital marketing strategy.”
Milica Vojnic, Senior Digital Marketing Executive at Wisetek, said: “On behalf of Wisetek we would like to thank the University of Bedfordshire for helping to facilitate the competition, and all of the students who took part. As a business operating in the region, it is always important to establish a good relationship with local universities and their students, and as a brand, it is extremely beneficial to get new viewpoints and a fresh perspective on our brand and our digital marketing strategy.”
Ioana Stoica, Lecturer in Marketing at the University of Bedfordshire, said: “I would like to thank Wisetek on behalf of the University and the participating students for their involvement in this competition. The experience that our students gained by taking part will be invaluable to them, as it enabled them to work with a real company with specific needs, target audiences, competitors, and a brand that they needed to learn about and take into account in the development of their strategies.”
