Neville Funerals, one of the region’s longest standing family-owned businesses, has set up collection boxes in each of its nine funeral branches to support the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
With high street locations in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, Neville Funerals is volunteering as a donation drop-off point, for those in the local community that want to contribute to the appeal. All items collected will be delivered directly to the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain – the largest representative body for Ukrainians and those of Ukrainian descent in the UK.
Neville’s has circulated a list of items most required, including medical goods such as: first aid kits, bandages, painkillers, dressing pads; electrical goods such as: torches, power banks and batteries; as well as general items such as sleeping bags.
Vicky Trumper, Director of Neville Funerals, said: “The entire team has been devasted to witness the events unfold in Ukraine and we knew immediately that we wanted to do something to help. It’s difficult to know how to offer your support here in the UK, but small gestures such as donating torches and first aid kits can go a long way for those who remain in Ukraine, as well as the increasing number of refugees fleeing the country.
“Customers and friends and colleagues were all eager to donate but some were unable to reach the collection centres, so we thought we could do that on their behalf and better help that way. And we’ll keep the collection boxes in place for as long as they are needed.”
A collection box has also been set-up at the head office of its sister company, Neville Construction, based in Luton. Details of the branch addresses can be found on the website or by calling 01582 490005.
