About the International Agreements Committee
The International Agreements Committee (IAC) scrutinises all treaties that are laid before Parliament under the terms of the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010 (CRAG) and considers the Government’s conduct of negotiations with states and other international partners.
The members of the Committee are not part of the Government. There are currently twelve members of the Committee: four members from the Labour Party (including the Chair of the Committee, Lord Goldsmith), four members from the Conservative Party, two members from the Liberal Democrat Party and two Crossbench members (who are not aligned with any party). You can read more about the members of the Committee here.
About the inquiry
Following the announcement of the UK-India Free Trade Agreement, the IAC opened an inquiry investigating the impacts and implications of the FTA for the UK. The inquiry is investigating the terms of the FTA, any potential benefits and disadvantages to the UK, and examining how key provisions will work for important sectors. So far in the inquiry, the committee has heard from trade policy and international relations experts as well as representative organisations for key sectors such as automotive and textiles.
The committee would like to hear from UK businesses about the impact of the UK-India FTA on them and the wider sector.
Express your interest by emailing the Select Committee Public Engagement Team at pet@parliament.uk by Tuesday 11 November 2025. Expressions of interest should include brief details about their role and the type of business they work for, as well as an indication of the impact they expect the UK-India FTA to have on their business.
Submitting an expression of interest will not guarantee a place at the roundtable, but all submissions will be carefully considered with the aim of bringing together a diverse range of perspectives.
