A Heartfelt Celebration of Giving: MK City Breakfast Club’s Festive Charity Special

This month marked a successful close to the 2023 series of Milton Keynes’ City Breakfast Club networking events. Hosted by MHA along with our co-sponsors, the event brought together an inspiring mix of professionals from Milton Keynes’s business community and beyond.

December’s event was truly special – a charity edition in recognition and aid of MK-Act’s exceptional work combatting domestic abuse in the local community. Colleagues and friends came together to contribute to donations for the Charity’s service users, symbolising the spirit of giving that defines the holiday season.

Sue Burke, CEO of MK-Act, shared insights into the past year’s initiatives and unveiled visionary plans for 2024, including the building of a new refuge, comprising 28 additional flats, by 2050 to amplify support for survivors. The Charity has seen a 30% increase in cases of domestic abuse, and currently, over 2,000 clients go through the service each year. MK-Act’s feasibility study shows their social value is an impressive 4.2 and their work has saved Milton Keynes £40 million over the last 40 years.

Guests were also treated to a heart-warming poem by MK-Act Marketing and Fundraising Manager, Lolly Marlborough, who has been instrumental in the continued success of the event.

Steve Freeman, Partner at MHA said: “MK City Breakfast Club is more than just a networking event; it is a platform for positive change and community support. The overwhelming support for MK-Act at our latest event truly exemplifies the power of coming together to make a difference. We invite everyone to join us in the New Year for another inspiring morning of connection and community impact. A heartfelt thank you to our colleagues, contacts, and friends for generously contributing to MK-Act. Your donations will make a meaningful impact, offering support and hope to families facing domestic abuse this Christmas.”
