Experience the Thrill: “Race Across MK” Returns for an Unforgettable Eco-Adventure and Family Fun Day!
MILTON KEYNES, – Get ready for an adventure like no other as Age UK Milton Keynes proudly presents the return of “Race Across MK” from Thursday, August 14th to Saturday, August 16th, 2025, with teams setting out from The Peartree Centre, 1 Chadds Lane, Peartree Bridge, MK6 3EB.
Inspired by global race challenges, “Race Across MK” strips back the modern conveniences. Teams will embark on a thrilling quest to discover 10 mystery destinations across Milton Keynes, equipped with just one budget and one map. Kicking off at 9 AM each day, participants are challenged to navigate the city using only eco-friendly transport – think walking, cycling, or public buses. Private cars, taxis, and ride-sharing services are strictly off-limits, encouraging resourcefulness and community engagement.
“We’ve done it and we smashed it. It’s so much fun. Do it. The Teachers say so,” enthused Asa and Alex, who formed “Team Teach” and conquered the challenge last year. Their sentiment perfectly captures the spirit of this unique event.
Simon Tuck, Events and Community Fundraiser for Age UK Milton Keynes, shared his excitement: “We are incredibly excited to bring ‘Race Across MK’ back for another year! This challenge is a fantastic way to explore our vibrant city, test your teamwork, and connect with the community, all while supporting a truly vital cause. The funds raised will directly benefit our dementia clients and the crucial groups we run, providing much-needed support and activities for older people in Milton Keynes.”
Each team can comprise a maximum of four members. While a high level of fitness isn’t essential (distances from bus stops are generally less than half a mile), a sense of adventure and a willingness to engage with the community for directions are key. For safety, one team member must carry a phone, but the real challenge lies in resisting the urge to use Google and instead relying on your wits and local knowledge. Teams will receive their next clue by sending a photo to a designated WhatsApp number upon reaching each destination. The winning team, completing all challenges and reaching the final destination first within the rules and budget, will receive a special prize.
NEW FOR 2025: The Family Day!
This year, Age UK Milton Keynes is thrilled to introduce a dedicated Family Day, featuring a shorter course exclusively around Centre MK. Designed for younger adventurers and their families, the Family Day promises a host of exciting activities upon completion, including a Teddy Bear Zip Line, a Daytime Rave, Splat the Rat, Tin Can Alley, Face Painting, and a delicious BBQ! It’s the perfect opportunity for families to enjoy a fun-filled day out while contributing to a worthy cause.
“Race Across MK” is an unparalleled opportunity to explore Milton Keynes, create lasting memories with friends, family, or colleagues, and make a tangible difference in the lives of older people.
