LSIP: Connecting Education, Employers & Opportunity
27 Nov 2025
Event
Title: LSIP: Connecting Education, Employers & Opportunity
Venue: Delta Hotels by Marriott MK, Timbold Drive, MK7 6HL
Description: We are pleased to invite you to join a workshop focused on discussing local skills challenges to help shape the future of skills development in our region.
There is a recognised disconnect in terms of what government delivers through colleges & through universities, & what companies actually want – we’ve known this for many years. It’s not just about the training provision on offer, it’s about recognising the barriers, formed partly because of the processes we have in place, that are just stopping people getting to where they need to get.
The LSIP (Local Skills Improvement Plan) very much focuses on how we try & change that landscape
Locally, the South Midlands LSIP works as a collaborative partnership in order to support the collaboration of employers with skills provision. This partnership ensures stronger alignment between the employer voice & the skills landscape, enabling a more coordinated approach to meeting local & regional skills needs. Stakeholders already working with us include Local Authorities, Further Education and Higher Education, Dept of Work and Pensions, Dept of Education, other employers and representatives from Trade bodies
The purpose of the workshop is to:
Provide specialist insight into current and future skills needs within our region
To look at the existing LSIP priorities and create meaningful action plans to affect real change
Support the development of practical, evidence-based recommendations for our next LSIP
Your contribution will help ensure the plan is truly reflective of employer needs and supports a stronger, more responsive skills system.
